This is a blog dedicated to the short animation "Sleddin". The story follows the experience of a young and tubby boy named Gus, as he prepares to sled down the cliff of his dreams.

This version is pretty close to finish. I changed the scarf and modified the shape of the face, jacket, and pants. The goal is to make him look more confident.

Overall Objective for this Semester:
Create a short animation that contains a polished story, layout, models, rigs, and animation.
Shading, lighting, effects, and compositing will happen dependent on the progress of these other parts of the pipeline. We plan on taking Spring semester and possibly the following Summer to continue to fine-tune everything, in the hopes of having a finished piece that will be submitted to animation and film festivals around the country.

Amanda - Model props and set dressing. Perform 2D animation tests to decide which props will sell to the audience without having to model. Animate final scene and begin shading and lighting lamp post, flag, etc...
- Animate Gus
Stephanie(Outside of Class) - begin shading and lighting snow, rock, and Gus.
John - Perform layout with simple rig and temporary models. Break down the story into groups to decide which models are needed for which scenes.

"Sleddin" storyboard
Sleddin from John Pettingill on Vimeo.
The final storyboard. Any camera and editing changes will come at the layout stage. But I believe this final version of the storyboard tells the story, theme, etc... that we are going for.
